One basket per room is enough

A house fills up with baskets that were pretty in the photo and too big for the shelf. Start with the opening, not the weave.

Measure the shelf height, then the depth, then subtract an inch. A cube insert belongs in a cubby. A low wide basket belongs beside a sofa, where you can drop a throw without standing up. A lidded round belongs in a bedroom, where the lid does half the tidying.

Use fabric bins on bookcases if you want a clean rectangle. Use seagrass and wicker where the texture can show. Line anything that will hold shoes, produce, or pet toys.

The baskets in the shop stay in that practical range: hampers, stair baskets, pantry bins, and the small lidded keepsakes that hide a charger.
